Storytime for Kids at Home

Charlotte Mecklenburg Library

Storytime

Just because we’re practicing social distancing, doesn’t mean you have to miss out on storytime. Storytimes encourage language and pre-reading skill development that help your child grow into a successful reader. That’s why we’ve added online storytimes for children to enjoy! These stories have been handpicked by our Charlotte Mecklenburg Library’s children’s librarians. Many of our storytime videos include active reading tips, booklist suggestions, discussion questions and book related activities to enjoy after the video.

MCPL Closed Until Further Notice

The administration has been monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation all day and major developments by the President have determined that to keep the American people SAFE we should not gather in groups larger than 10 people, which is significantly lower than the 50 people limit previously reported.
As such, we at Mrs. Chris Play and Learn have decided to adhere these guidelines and will be closing after today until further notice.

We recognize that this may be an inconvenience to our working families. It was our intention to help bridge the gap during these uncertain circumstances; however, the safety of our families, children and staff will always be our first priority.

We ask that all families continually monitor our website or social media platforms for our latest updates and we will continue to post information as events continue to unfold.

It is our sincerest hope that you and your family BE SAFE. Please remember to wash your hands and cough/sneeze intour elbow to prevent the spread of any germs or viruses. And we'll look forward to serving our community again as soon as this pandemic has been contained.

Welcome Back to School!

This year, our goal at Mrs. Chris Play and Learn is to share the love of reading with your child - and for that, we need your help.

When you read aloud to your child, you allow them to experience a new, exciting world. YOU TEACH them that books are fun, fueling your child's desire to learn how to read.

It only takes 20 minutes a night!

We will send Scholastic Book Club flyers home with your child throughout the year to help you build you family library. They contain great age-appropriate books for prices as low as ONE DOLLAR! Plus every purchase earns our classrooms additional FREE books and resources.

We're looking forward to a great year of READING TOGETHER.
